Madison Avenue Pub

A place for meeting students aged 19-24, the place is also known as Madison House (or the Maddy) and is actually a series of British style pubs inside three interconnecting Victorian houses.

The atmosphere is casual and laid-back and gets really busy mid-week (except during exam time). The women are from all over the world due to the fact that the university attracts so many international students. You could be picking up a Thai or Brazilian girl just as easily as a Canadian.
Weekends are for partying hard and from 10.30pm onwards the complex is thronging with people. With capacity for 2000 people, it’s not hard to see why the venue is referred to as a ‘mega-pub’.
There’s a patio area for people who want to escape the music and six floors of differently styled rooms to enjoy. Prices are very reasonable but there is a $5 cover; however, with a good game you are almost guaranteed to pick up successfully at the Maddy so it’s definitely a price worth paying.

Ballroom

Spread over two floors and able to accommodate up to 900 people, the Ballroom is an entertainment venue which offers a range of activities. From ten-pin bowling to air-hockey, ping-pong and foosball there is plenty of things to do besides be a bar-fly.
Having said that, there are four bars you can get attached to as well as two patio areas. It gets very busy from 11.30 onwards and attracts women aged 20-30 and there are plenty to choose from. There is a dance floor which can also get crowded, particularly on Saturday nights. It’s a casual place so you don’t need to dress up.

Luxy Nightclub

With a cover charge of $15-20, the Luxy Nightclub is a bit of an investment but one that should pay off handsomely.
It’s a small venue and, because of its proximity to York University, has a lot of international students. The best time to visit is on a Saturday after 10pm. It covers an area of 13,000 ft2 and is decorated in an ultra-contemporary, European style.
The music varies depending on the night you go and any events they are running but it is guaranteed to be loud and get your adrenaline rushing. The girls here are party animals and nights can get pretty wild.
