The Ottawa Shemale Guide

Want to know more about where to find shemales, trannies and ladyboys in Ottawa?

Unlike Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver, the transgender population of Ottawa is pretty small and certainly less visible in larger numbers. The capital city, though by and large an LGBTQI friendly place, just doesn’t seem to have as many ‘out’ shemales as other Canadian cities.

However, there are gay bars where some T girls can be found as well as the usual online sources of escorts and hook-ups. So, check out our guide to the Shemale community of Ottawa for your best chance of hooking up with a tranny in the nation’s capital.

TS Clubs

Ottawa has a lot of gay bars and clubs though none that particularly have a shemale scene or community. Of the half dozen bigger clubs, a handful have drag nights that sometimes attract T girls from the community.

The Lookout Bar

T’s Pub

323 Somerset Street West, Ottawa

The newest gay pub in Ottawa, this small and friendly crowd number a few trans girls. The pub has regular drag shows and is fast becoming one of the more welcoming and diverse venues in the city. It has a relaxed and informal feel that differentiates itself from a big glitzy bar and is a much easier place to be able to chat and pick up than in a club. The patio area lends itself well to casual conversation.

Open daily from 2pm to 2am, T’s Pub is perhaps the best shot at a casual pick-up just don’t get confused between drag acts and the real deal.

Mercury Lounge

56 Byward Market Square, Ottawa, ON K1N 7A2

Opened in 1996, the Mercury Lounge is one of the city’s oldest gay clubs and is an assault to the senses with its reputation for house, electronic and nu jazz music. A mecca for the weekend, particularly for gay men, the club is open as follows:

  • Wednesday and Fridays: 10pm to 3am
  • Saturday: 7pm to 3am
  • Sunday: Check website for events.

Though the place is not known for its shemale community, certain events and nights do attract a few in through the doors. Wednesday night is a very popular night with an all-welcome door policy for the LGBTQ community and there is a drag show at midnight.

Overall, the place is small and can get quite cosy but don’t be discouraged as fortune favours the bold. If the night scene isn’t your thing then you can always look out for their popular daytime events when the lounge doubles as a venue for the more sedate cultural experiences including poetry readings, dance performances and art exhibitions.
